"My paintings are all explorations. I like playing with juxtaposing seemingly discordant imagery and opposing ideas, like birds and targets, safety and danger, natural and unnatural, decorative and spiritual. The process determines whether a painting ends up being whimsical, profound, mysterious or just pretty. I am looking for new metaphors by creating new contexts and relationships."

Samios specializes in fanciful, sometimes sardonic pictures of birds, plants and men (often androgynous), painted in a graceful style that's representational but not realistic.
